āpša zīme DABĀ EJOT. KO ATNESI, TO AIZNES

The Nature Conservation Agency, in cooperation with the World Wildlife Fund, is conducting an information campaign with what we believe is an ambitious goal. Namely, to change the habits of society when going on holiday in nature. The campaign’s motto is “When in nature, take everything you brought!”.

With this slogan, we encourage people to think about their habits and change them:

  • piktogramma IEPAKOJUMSPay attention to the packaging of the products you take with you.
  • piktogramma ATKRITUMU DAUDZUMSDon’t take along any excess things that you might want to get rid of halfway through.
  • piktogramma AIZNES ATKRITUMUSDon’t look for small rubbish bins on hiking trails in forests, marshes or other natural sites, instead take your empty packaging with you and dispose of it in large rubbish bins, such as those found in car parks.

Why is it so important?

  • piktogramma ATKRITUMU MAŠĪNAThe maintenance of small bins requires considerable financial resources from the Agency, municipalities and landowners. The Agency alone spends tens of thousands of euros annually on the maintenance of small bins, which could be invested, for example, in new infrastructure.
  • piktogramma NELĪDZENSWaste management at nature sites and nature trails is very difficult due to limited access.
  • piktogramma PUTNS uz URNASOften, the contents of bins are carried by birds and animals around the area.
  • piktogramma PUDELE SLAZDSOur seemingly innocent packages can become death traps for reptiles, birds and animals.

To remind everyone of this very simple principle – take everything you brought! – 2000 information signs with an image of a badger and a call for prudent and responsible action are placed on nature sites and trails in Specially Protected Nature Territories.

Together, we can make sure our environment stays clean, which will bring joy to ourselves and eliminate threats to forest, meadow, swamp, and water inhabitants! Therefore, we urge every municipality, company and organisation to engage in this information campaign by placing a unified information sign in their territories.
